Programs at the Graduate Student Center Arts and Culture - Arts and Culture programs include outings to cultural venues, discounted tickets to local events, and workshops on the arts. Career and Life Skills - Improve your job skills and find fun new ways to spend your precious leisure time with the workshops in our Career and Life Skills series. Community Service - Get involved with the local community! In addition to GSC-sponsored community service activities, you can also find information here on local volunteer opportunities and community events. Film Series - Films are shown at the Graduate Student Center every Thursday and Sunday evening, ranging from hard-to-find independents to unusual foreign selections to major blockbusters. General Programs - From showing broadcast athletic events to providing flu shots to hosting the annual graduate brunch, there's always something going on at the Graduate Student Center; click here for the latest information. Language Chats - Get a chance to practice that other language you haven't tried since high school or college! Talk to other speakers native and non-native alike who want to maintain or improve their language skills. Lecture Series - The Lecture Series is designed to enhance the intellectual stimulation and professional development of the graduate and professional student community by fostering interactions, academic exchanges, and social engagements among Penn students, faculty, and professional staff in a variety of forums. Mentoring - The mentoring program connects members of the Penn graduate and professional student community with current Penn undergraduates who are considering graduate studies. Recreation and Outings - Join other students on fun recreational outings and trips. T.A. and Ph.D Support - Our "Navigating the Classroom" and "Navigating the Dissertation" series will help you with two of the most important aspects of graduate education. Improve your teaching skills and get valuable dissertation advice at these workshops. New Student Orientation (NSO) - We wrote the book on graduate student life at Penn! In addition to events aimed at introducing new students to Penn and Philadelphia, NSO provides helpful information for all graduate and professional students. |
