Common Room

The Common Room, located on the main floor, is the Grad Center's primary space for hanging out. Whether you come for relaxation or work, its comfortable couches, large tables, rotating exhibitions, fireplace, coffee service, and signature French doors overlooking Locust Walk make it the perfect place to connect with Penn's graduate community. Stop in to use the computer lab or connect wirelessly to the Internet. The latest editions of the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia Inquirer and the Chronicle of Higher Education are available. You can also catch the occassional broadcast on our huge screen like the FIFA World Cup. The Common Room is always staffed with a friendly Grad Center Fellow available to answer your questions or assist you with registration for upcoming events.

This room features:

• multimedia projection system with CD/DVD player, Internet access, and large screen (available upon request for a minimal fee)
• podium and microphone (available upon request for a minimal fee)
• flexible furniture configurations with capacity for:
  • 32 (seated at tables)
  • 50 (seated theater style)
  • 150 (standing)

Reservations

The Common Room is only available for reservation when the Grad Center is closed, and therefore always incurs a rental fee.

Gnome's Cafe

Bon Appetit and the Grad Center present Gnome's Cafe, a little place to catch a quick bite or snack. Conveniently located at the back bar of the Common Room, Gnome's Cafe features a $6 lunch special: any sushi, salad or sandwich, a drink, and a snack!

Gnome's Cafe will close for the summer on Friday, May 11, 2012.
