Directions to PennTravelling to Campus by CarFrom the Northeast: use the New Jersey Turnpike South to Exit 3. Bear right after the toll. Take the Blackhorse Pike (Route. 42 North) one mile to I-295 South. Follow signs to Philadelphia and the Walt Whitman Bridge (a left-lane exit). After crossing the bridge, take I-76 West, the Schuylkill Expressway. Follow I-76 West to Exit 40, South Street (a left-lane exit). Turn left onto South Street to enter campus. From the West via the Pennsylvania Turnpike: use Exit 24, the Valley Forge interchange. Take I-76 East, the Schuylkill Expressway, for approximately 17 miles to Exit 40, South Street (a left-lane exit). Turn right onto South Street to enter campus. From the North via the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Northeast Extension): follow the signs for I-476. Take I-476 South to the I-76/Philadelphia Exit. Take I-76 East, the Schuylkill Expressway, for approximately 12 miles to Exit 40, South Street (a left-lane exit). Turn right onto South Street to enter campus. From the North via I-95 South: use the I-676/Center City Philadelphia Exit. Follow signs to I-676 West, the Vine Street Expressway. Take I-676 West to I-76 East, the Schuylkill Expressway, to Exit 40, South Street (a left-lane exit). Turn right onto South Street to enter campus. From the South via I-95 North: take the I-76 West exit. Continue over bridge to stoplight. Turn left at light onto Penrose Ave PA-291 East. Merge onto I-76, the Schuylkill Expressway, west and exit at South Street (a left-lane exit). Turn left onto South Street to enter campus. From Philadelphia International AirportTrain: The Airport Express Train (R1) stops at University City Station (Convention Avenue and South Street) and 30th Street Station every 30 minutes, seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. The current fare if ticket is purchased before boarding the train is $5.50 each way; a ticket purchased on-board the train will be $7.50 unless the ticket office is closed. The ride takes approximately 20 minutes. Taxi: A metered cab costs about $20 including tip, and the ride takes approximately 20 minutes. Car Rental: All major car rental firms are located at the airport. To get to the campus, follow the directions "From the South." From 30th Street Train StationAll Amtrak Northeast Corridor trains and all SEPTA Regional trains stop at the 30th Street Station. From there one can walk to campus in about 15 minutes. Another option is to catch the University’s LUCY shuttle, which offers free transportation (with PennCard) from 30th Street Station to campus. Across the street from 30th Street Station, one can also catch SEPTA’s Green Line subway-surface trolleys (except the No. 10), which stop at "Sansom" or "University." A taxicab costs about $5 including tip, and the ride takes approximately 5 minutes. From the Greyhound Bus StationTo get to the campus from the Greyhound Bus Station (10th and Filbert Streets), walk one block south to the 11th and Market transit concourse and take the Market/Frankford train (Blue Line) west, or walk one block south and two blocks west to 13th and Market Streets and take any westbound subway-surface trolley (Green Line), except the No. 10, to "Sansom" or "University."
