About Tax Information

We understand that figuring your taxes as a student can be a daunting task. Here's some useful information to help you!

First, review the Guide to Graduate Student & Post-Doctoral Appointments on the University Finance website, which defines Graduate Student and Post-Doctoral Appointments at the University. Federal, state and city tax follows the proper determination of the appointment.

Also visit the Internal Revenue Service for definitive statements on federal taxes and the Pennslyvania Department of Revenue for state tax information.

ISSS at Penn has also posted Tax Information for International Students & Scholars.

This website is also useful.

If you still need assistance after reviewing this information, you should seek tax preparation advice. The IRS has VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) programs to help students prepare tax returns. The VITA website has location information.
