About the Gnome

Normally, I'm too modest to talk about myself much, but many students have been asking who I am and how I got to the Graduate Student Center.

My early years were spent in an idyllic garden in the French countryside, then I was stolen by the Garden Gnome Liberation Front. I escaped from my kidnappers while passing through Philadelphia. The first couple months were rough as I learned to live on the urban streets, but I ended up enrolling at Penn earning a bachelor's in chemical engineering, an MBA from Wharton, and a doctoral degree in Eastern European Folk Studies. My street smarts and book smarts have prepared me to answer any and all questions!

When the Grad Center opened in 2001, how could I resist making it my home? Lots of new students with questions, lots of free coffee, and so many exciting trips!
